Street Art Chapel St Precinct
Interactive Street Art
UK street artist Phlegm was just in Melbourne. He’s a world known cartoonist and illustrator. His work is distinctively detailed and composed of odd characters with a narrative structure. His work inspires greatness and is even often inspired by graffiti where Phlegm transforms run down urban spaces.
This project was in the makes for two and a half years, after several months of negotiating, a decision was made by the Chapel St Precinct to use the northern wall of the historical Love & Lewis building built in 1913 and used as a department store before being converted into apartments. His style has proven to be sympathetic with the building’s architecture and surrounding scenary.
It took Phlegm a week to complete the 4 storey impressive mural, it certainly has become a part of the architecture and you can see hints of industrial/futuristic influence in this comissioned piece.
